I was of the nearly 8 million people who downloaded firefox 3, only now i kinda wish I hadn't. I've kept a tally, in the last week i'm averaging 3 crashes a day. Am I alone in this? Luckily the restore session function works really well... but frankly, the user experience sucks Comments (13)

Not recently. I had the occaisonal crash during the betas but none on the final.
Agree its a still a bush-pig in terms of memory usage with lots of tabs. written by hasen, July 08, 2008
firefox 3 crashes all the time for me, I'm running Vista Ultimate on a Tablet PC .. (don't know if the "tablet pc" part is related to the bug?)

I'm on a tablet as well. Perhaps its that that is causing all the issues?

I read somewhere after some googling a suggestion by someone, find the ffox installation directory, go to the extensions folder, you'll find a folder inside it with random numbers and a file inside it called "install" dot something.
delete this directory (the numbers) don't know if it helps, I did it about 3 hours ago and so far no crash yet, but this is not enough time to judge it! written by hasen, July 15, 2008
actually deleting that folder didn't solve anything!
Here's a better fix: download firefox portable. (you can export/import your bookmarks, and if you install an addon you can also import/export your saved passwords) Now it's much better, but it still crashes now and then. but much better than before. written by hasen, July 17, 2008
look here:

Hi Z,
I found the fix outlined above worked but I ended up with other issues from FF. I'm currently a very happy Safari user. Cheers written by ArkyMark, June 27, 2010
This has been happening several times a day for me to - and FF used to be the most stable thing out there! It's getting frustrating as hell!

still a bit of a memory hog (although I do regularly have a dozen or more tabs open)
